Cheyenne, Wyo. – According to an analysis prepared for the Wyoming Business Council, 65% of residents permanently leave the state by the time they turn 30.
The Joint Appropriations Committee’s actions to defund the council, could further influence that number.
“Out migration is a big challenge for us, we don’t want to see it anymore, we want to help stem that tide,” said Josh Dorrell, CEO of the Wyoming Business Council.
“My concern for the future is that Wyoming is the number one state in the union for being likely to export our young people,” said Dale Steenbergen, CEO of the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.
“I’ve always focused on making sure that we have a place that attracts young people,” said Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon.
