Want to be part of the action during this year’s Ironman 70.3 without having to train as a triathlete? Visit Tri-Cities is looking for you.
The tourism agency is seeking 1,570 volunteers to help run the Ironman 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities race on Sept. 20, according to a release. That’s more than in each of the past two years and covers roles ranging from athlete check-in to celebrating athletes as they cross the finish line and everything in between.
“Volunteers are the heartbeat of Ironman,” said Kevin Lewis, president and CEO of Visit Tri-Cities, in a statement. “The one-on-one connection you make during the athlete’s journey bonds them with our community in a meaningful way. When you hand water to an athlete, guide them along the course, or cheer them through a challenging mile, you become part of their story as well.”
