The Tuolumne Memorial museum will offer a second presentation of a May program on the nearly 170 years of merchandising that provided groceries to the township beginning during the Gold Rush.
Technical difficulties prevented the PowerPoint images from being shown during the May presentation. The reprise will be presented at the museum at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.
“Getting Groceries in Tuolumne” explores the history of the township’s grocery and food stores and the people who owned them. Lynne Jerome will present the stories of these merchants and their businesses, including pictures and accounts from former employees, family members and her own research. A special display features vintage grocery-related items and photographs.
