BUFFALO, W.Va. (WCHS) — Toyota West Virginia announced an $88 million investment Wednesday in a new hybrid transaxle assembly line.
Production is scheduled to begin in late 2026 and will be utilized in Toyota and Lexus models to transfer power between engines, electric motors and wheels, according to a news release from the automaker.
The news release said Toyota is also donating $100,000 to the Marshall University’s Advanced Manufacturing Center to help develop West Virginia’s workforce.
Toyota noted the Putnam County plant assembles engines and drivetrain components for North American operations.
The location, which employs more than 2,000 people, has now invested a total of $2.8 billion, Toyota said.
