The Town of Lockport Industrial Development Agency is looking at recouping back taxes from Up North Hosting, a data center in the town’s IDA Park, since it ceased operations last fall and has since put the building up for sale.
Tom Sy, administrative director of the Lockport IDA, said the agency didn’t hear from the company after sending a message in December regarding the shutdown. In January, the IDA board voted to rescind the Payment In Lieu Of Taxes agreement that it had previously struck with Up North Hosting.
Now, Sy said, it’s a waiting game to recover owed taxes through the sale of the building.
