Shoppers who recently visited the Dollar Tree in Gloversville are being urged to check their bank accounts after police discovered a suspicious skimming device attached to a payment terminal inside the store.
According to NEWS10 ABC, the Gloversville Police Department responded on Tuesday (March 3) to the Dollar Tree at 169 North Main Street after receiving a report of a suspicious device attached to a point-of-sale terminal. Officers recovered multiple components they believe may be part of a skimming device.
Skimming devices are designed to secretly capture credit and debit card data when customers swipe or insert their cards at a checkout terminal — all without the customer knowing.
