San Antonio has been named one of Oxford Economics’ “Cities to Watch” for 2026, making it one of just three U.S. cities recognized in the global ranking.
According to Oxford Economics, the list highlights cities that are “generating significant steam and likely to climb our rankings in the coming years.”
San Antonio received an overall score of 69.5 out of 100. The city scored highest in governance and environment and lowest in human capital.
Boise, Idaho, and Jacksonville, Florida, were the other two U.S. cities named to the list. Monterrey, Mexico, was also recognized.
Among San Antonio’s major economic development projects this year is include Industrial Electric Manufacturing’s planned 1 million-square-foot manufacturing facility at Brooks on the South Side. The Silicon Valley-based company expects to create 3,000 jobs in the city by 2030.
