MOSCOW, Idaho — A rooftop HVAC unit caused a fire at a business on South Main Street in Moscow Sunday morning.
The fire was reported just after 8:30 a.m.
When firefighters arrived, they were able to locate the fire within the rooftop HVAC unit. Crews also found an active natural gas leak supplying the HVAC unit.
The natural gas supply was eventually shut off and firefighters were able to put out the fire in the HVAC unit.
All levels of the building were checked and no other fire damage was found. The fire cause significant damage to the HVAC unit and the roof area.
The Moscow Fire Department says the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.
No injuries were reported.
