A Six-Hour long fight broke out yesterday between youths of Relight Section in Rabaul town and Malaguna Number 1, forcing businesses and shops to close early, effectively shutting down operations for the whole day yesterday.
East New Britain Provincial Police commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Januarius Vosivai could not confirm the root cause of the fight, however, confirmed that a few shops have been looted and two residential houses were set on fire during the riot.
“The fight broke out around 12am midnight and continued on until 6am Monday morning.
“The situation is back to normal, but damages have been caused like two residential areas, two houses behind the Rabaul Page Park market have been set on fire.
“A few shops have been looted during the fight, however, the situation now is normal,” the PPC said this yesterday afternoon.
