Recently, the spotlight has turned to Chinese investments in Indonesia’s textile sector following remarks by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, on his discussions with Chinese garment and textile investors.
Luhut said that the investors have proposed to build a new factory in Kertajati, West Java province, adjacent to the recently constructed factory of electric vehicle maker BYD. He explained that the investment could potentially accommodate up to 108,000 workers, who will also benefit from company-provided housing.
