Anumula Revanth Reddy is set to be the next Chief Minister of Telangana. After having energetically led the Congress’ successful poll campaign in the Southern state, Revanth — backed by a majority of newly-elected Congress MLAs — was the expected choice. But now the Congress’ next big challenge is to accommodate a clutch of senior leaders as ministers. Sources in the party said discussions are on for the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
Meanwhile in North India, the Congress found itself almost wiped out of the Hindi heartland. The results this week indicate the diminishing returns of Rahul Gandhi’s ambitious Bharat Jodo Yatra, which ended in January. While the impact of the Yatra was most seen in Telangana, it did not seem to have the same effect in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
