TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As the date for the World Athletics Cross Country Championship quickly approaches, chairs of the event excitedly anticipate its economic impact.
The family-friendly event comes to the capital city on January 10 at Apalachee Regional Park. The event is the pinnacle of cross-country, as the sport is no longer in the Olympics. Organizers said that they expect Olympians to be in attendance.
So far, 2500 tickets have been sold from all 50 states and more than 50 countries, with tickets still on sale. While this is not the largest event Tallahassee has hosted, it is the first world championship.
