The day-to-day work of operating and maintaining America’s commercial buildings has a far-reaching economic impact, according to a new study from Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International. The 2026 study finds that building operations across office, retail and industrial properties generate nearly $610 billion in annual economic output and support 3.9 million U.S. jobs.
