A common belief around Wyoming is that the August primary election is where all the major political decisions are made. While the primary election narrows down candidate fields to determine who appears on major party lines, it is only one step in the electoral process.
Because the majority of registered voters in Wyoming are registered Republicans, it can often feel like winning a primary is equivalent to winning the office.
