SALEM Ore. (KPTV) – Oregon is at an inflection point, according to a new set of recommendations delivered to Gov. Tina Kotek by the Oregon Prosperity Council.
Formed in January 2026, the council was tasked with outlining near and long-term strategies to strengthen Oregon’s business climate, modernize the state’s economy, and improve workforce readiness—while ensuring the benefits are shared through rising wages and better quality of life for Oregonians.
The executive summary describes a state facing rising costs, slowing population growth, and “declining competitiveness,” warning that without meaningful change Oregon could slide into “a cycle of economic stagnation, declining public confidence, eroding services, and fewer pathways to upward mobility.”
