Don’t call it a humblebrag.
Streaming titan Netflix is tooting its own proverbial horn this week, claiming that it has contributed a staggering amount to the global economy, including 425,000 permanent jobs, 700,000 positions for extras, and a whalloping $325 billion dollars since 2016. But rather than just end this announcement at a data-filled press release, Netflix want you to experience all their good deeds for yourself… so they’re launching a website dedicated to them.
These staggering numbers and new site announcement come from a Variety article published May 12. In it, the outlet reveals the creation of thenetflixeffect.com, which Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos calls “a comprehensive look at the economic, cultural and social impact of our films and series, and how it ripples out across economies, industries and everyday life, day after day, week after week.”
