A Mornings with Maria panel recently discussed the U.S. economy’s resilience and the effects of the Spirit Airlines collapse, according to a source report. The April 2026 jobs data, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, showed employers added 115,000 jobs. This figure surpassed the 62,000-job gain predicted by economists polled by LSEG.
The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.3%, matching expectations from LSEG economists. Revisions for the prior two months showed February’s payrolls adjusted downward by 23,000, from a loss of 133,000 to a decline of 156,000. March’s report was revised upward by 7,000, from a gain of 178,000 to 185,000. Combined, employment in February and March was 16,000 jobs lower than previously reported.
