An EU push to accelerate the uptake of clean fuels has been broadly welcomed by the maritime sector. Despite the positive mood music, industry leaders note that the Commission’s €2.9 billion Sustainable Transport Investment Plan (STIP) could prove limited to meet the scale of the transition.
In early November, the European Commission presented STIP as a strategic framework for the energy transition in all modes of transport, with a focus on aviation and waterborne transport.
