SAN ANTONIO – In March, we reported that the City of San Antonio would spend more than $800,000 to pave over the South Alamo road construction and install pedestrian walkways. Now that the sporting event is over, the pavement and walkways have been ripped out.
One business owner along South Alamo said the construction has their business on the brink of closing.
“As far as access, it is definitely the worst it’s ever been, and it was sort of unexpected because at Final Four we suddenly had a pedestrian walk through areas and we sort of assumed that it would be that way for Fiesta but like immediately after Fina Four everything was covered up again,” said Vera Deckard, owner of Kunstler Tap Haus at Hemisfair.
Deckard said customers can no longer get to the front of the business. There’s also no foot traffic due to the lack of sidewalks, according to Deckard, so no one notices the…
